Land Use Review

Welcome to the Land Use Review program in Island County, Washington.
The Land Use program reviews development proposals submitted to the Island County Planning department for potential public health impacts and conformance with local and state health codes. Staff associated with this program attends pre-application conferences and public hearings to present analyses and recommendations. Land use reviews are coordinated with other relevant county departments.  
Typically, Public Health staff comments address requirements for water quality and quantity, waste water management, solid and hazardous waste disposal, past site uses and noise. The requirements differ depending on the type of land use application, such as boundary line adjustments, site plan reviews or subdivisions.
