Outdoor Burning

The Burn Ban will be in effect as of July 15, 2014.
 
Island County Public Health will be issuing Burn Permits to the residents of Island County.   When a Burn Ban is not in effect, permits can be obtained at the Public Health Department in Coupeville or Camano Island. Written permits for Land Clearing Burning and Residential Burning are required by State Law. 
 
Land Clearing Burning:
Pile size must not exceed 30 feet in diameter.
Permit Fees: $100 for a 1-day permit.
 
Residential Burning:
Pile size must not exceed 10 feet in diameter.
Permit Fees: $40 for a 3-day permit.
              
Recreational Burning:
Recreational fires 3 feet in diameter or smaller do not need a permit.
  
Permanent burn ban areas (except small recreational fires) includes Oak Harbor, Coupeville, Freeland, and Langley. (See map below.)
