Outdoor Burning

Update as of September 20, 2013:
 
The Burn Ban will be lifted in Island County at 8:00am, September 23, 2013.  
 
As of July 1, 2013, Island County Public Health will be issuing Burn Permits to the residents of Island County.   When a Burn Ban is not in effect, permits can be obtained Monday through Thursday (8:00am - 4:30pm) at the Public Health Department in Coupeville or Camano Island. Written permits for Land Clearing Burning and Residential Burning are required by State Law. 
 
Land Clearing Burning:
Pile size must not exceed 30 feet in diameter.
Permit Fees: $100 for a 1-day permit.
 
Residential Burning:
Pile size must not exceed 10 feet in diameter.
Permit Fees: $40 for a 3-day permit.
              
Recreational Burning:
Recreational fires 3 feet in diameter or smaller do not need a permit.
  
Permanent burn ban areas (except small recreational fires) includes Oak Harbor, Coupeville, Freeland, and Langley. (See map below.)
