Welcome to the Food Protection program in Island County, Washington.
The Food Protection program works to ensure the provision of safe food served in all food service establishments in Island County. Staff monitor food service operations, review plans for new or expanding food service establishments, investigate food borne illnesses and investigate and resolve complaints. Staff train food service employees about the proper methods of handling, preparing, serving, and storing food and food products.
Island County Public Health staff monitors food service operations in approximately 375 permanent facilities and over 100 temporary events each year. Most facilities are inspected twice each year. For all Food Protection permits and forms click
